CBMint Review

If you’ve done any web searches for precious metals and investments, you’ve likely come across a site called CBMint. CBMint sells a wide selection of products in everything from gold, silver, platinum, palladium, and rhodium to those that are looking to add to their investment portfolio, save for a big life event, or keep quick access to cash from the liquidity of precious metals.

But, with so many precious metals companies out there, can you really trust CBMint for transparency, helpful customer service, good pricing, and IRA-approved products? Or, are they one of the precious metals dealers that you should avoid?

Before you invest with CBMint, consider this honest review.

Who is CBMint?

I wish I could give you a backstory on CBMint, but unfortunately, there isn’t a whole lot to be found. Most precious metals dealers have some sort of “About Me” page on their website, but CBMint does not. The only information that is known is that the company was formed by a group of precious metals investors, but nothing about who they are or what their experience in the precious metals industry has been.

What is known about CBMint is that they strive to provide low pricing on their products for their customers. This is done by sourcing bars and coins directly from manufacturers, thus cutting out a middle-man.

If you decide to become a customer with CBMint, you’ll be delighted to see that their checkout process is quick and easy, they accept various payment methods, and they offer free shipping with insurance for all purchases within the continental U.S.; a rarity with precious metals companies.

Selling to CBMint

If you’re not looking to buy, but instead to sell, CBMint may be interested. Their website states that they will typically pay you the current spot price for precious metals.

The seller will be responsible for shipping your metals to CBMint, but those are the only fees, there are no other hidden costs.

Is CBMint a Scam?

CBMint is not a scam. They are definitely a legitimate company and they have earned an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), which wouldn’t be possible for a fake company.

Now, what is a little worrisome is the lack of online reviews from customers of CBMint. We checked sites like Trustpilot, Business Consumer Alliance, Trust Link, and Yelp to see what we could find, but truthfully there wasn’t much of anything to see.

While the lack of reviews doesn’t knock them out of contention for a good company, it is just strange that nobody has anything to say, good or bad. This certainly makes it a gamble in choosing them.

Keep in mind, that CBMint.com only processes orders of at least $500 and they are not an IRA custodian. If you want to open an IRA account, you will have to work with a separate IRA custodian; CBMint recommends the Entrust Group.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Orders will ship for free and will be fully insured
  • A large selection of products in gold, silver, platinum, palladium, and rhodium
  • CBMint purchases precious metals and may buy from you

Cons

  • Lacking customer reviews online
  • Not an IRA custodian
  • Website connection problems
  • No real information on who runs the company

Final Verdict on CBMint

In the world of precious metals dealers, I would say CBMint is a middle-of-the-pack company. They’re definitely not going to scam you, they have an A+ rating with the BBB, and they do have good pricing on a wide variety of products. But, if you want to invest with your purchases, you’ll have to find another custodian, plus you really don’t know who is behind CBMint because they are very vague on their origins.

All-in-all, I would say that entry-level investors and collectors would find that CBMint is a decent place to start, but more experienced investors will likely want to look elsewhere for their investment needs.
